A little about Cat

I am a mother to three beautiful, thoughtful and creative babes who are a constant source of inspiration. I am a  wife to one amazing and supportive spunk of a man who just ‘gets me’, and I am a friend to many many wonderful souls that I am lucky to have crossed paths with.  I am a light seeker, a soul searcher and a self taught photographer.  I grew up with two younger sisters and loving parents in

Melbourne Australia.

One day I hope to take my photography overseas and travel with my family.

What does photography mean to you?

Photography to me, is more than just a snapshot. Its a moment frozen in time that is there to stay with you forever. Since becoming a mother I have realised all too well how quickly time passes us by. Its crazy and scary. Photography allows me to capture moments that I want to fold up and keep.

It helps me focus on the little things in life that really are truly the best things. Photography feeds my soul. It inspires me to look at the world in a different light and see everything beautifully. It helps me breathe.

It really has been such a gift and I am so thankful that I am able to share something I feel so passionately about.

When did you start pursing photography?

I like to think this amazing journey I am on started long before I had a camera in hand.  I started noticing the way light was falling onto subjects, the way the clouds scattered across the sky in the evening light, the way a mother looks at her child as he is looking back up at her and it was those things that took my breath away.  I yearned to feed my soul but it took me a while to realise how to do this. Photography was the answer and I have never ever looked back.

What motivates and inspires you?

My children are my muse’s. They inspire me daily and the emotion I feel for them really feeds into how I want to capture things. Raw and evoking imagery is where my heart is. When I can be my creative self, that’s when I am inspired.

Can you share with us a few of your favorite images and why you love them so much?

I chose these images as they evoke deep emotion for me. They are truthful, honest images that I am documenting for my family, and myself.

I picture these images as visions from within a dream, or a memory that I will be able to revisit time and time again as I grow older.
Thats whats important, and thats the reason I began my photography journey.

An adventure that is constantly around us, needing to be captured so that the little things in life, never fade.

What advice would you give another photographer just starting up?

Just keep going. The moments you feel like giving up, don’t.

They are usually the moments right before you start flying.

Nikon or Canon? What len is always attached?

Im a canon girl. I have my 35mm glass on it most of the time, however for outside shoots I swap between that and the 70-200.

Lightroom or Photoshop? Both?

Both! I do most of my processing in LR, then finishing touches are done in Photoshop.
