A little about Christa

I am the mother of 2 remarkable children and am married to the most supportive man anyone could ask for. I am addicted to everything craft related and at any given time will have at least half a dozen started projects.  I love travelling any chance I get, have called 8 different communities home and am always looking forward to the next adventure.  I love a good cup of coffee in the morning and a nice glass of red wine at the end of the day.

Can you tell us what photography means to you?

Photography is my sanity. It helps define who I am as a person, apart from the roles as mother and wife. It feeds my creative soul as nothing else can. It’s my voice when I can’t find the words.

What Motivates and inspires you?

I am inspired by emotion.  I love both the dark moodiness of an overcast sky or the lovely dreaminess from a beautiful sunset.  I really enjoy using negative space and movement in my work as well.

Are you in busniess or a hobbyist?

I am in business, but really enjoy doing personal projects as well.

Can you share with us 5 of your favorite images and tell us why you love them so.

With each of these images I am made to feel something. Pride, courage, strength, sorrow, joy and love are all represented.  What can I say, I’m an emotional person so I thrive on being able to create emotive imagery.

What’s in your camera bag?

Nikon D800
Nikkor 35mm 1.8
Nikkor 50mm 1.4
Nikkor 85mm 1.4
Lensbaby with Edge 80
A lens cloth, an extra charged battery and a prism (which I am still trying to figure out).

What does your editing process look like?

I import directly into Lightroom, cull my images and play around until I find a look that suits the images. If I’m using a preset I usually tweak the sliders and the left side of the tone curve to adjust the matte until it fits the feel of the image.
